Perhaps you need a 8606 form that will not be ready for e-fileing until 2/12 (estimated).

On 2/9/2020 Turbo Tax says IRS is still not ready for 1099R input. Is this true or is something not getting updated for me?

No I haven't heard this. You can file your return using your 1099R information. I am not aware of any IRS restriction.

No, the answer didn't help. Here's what's happening

1 I open Turbo tax. I've been a user since about 2012

2 It checks for updates and apparently finds none

3 A popup says system.runtime.serialization.serializationexception.typr is not resolved for member

4 I check ok box and proceed

5 takes longer than usual to load my return (it does know my input from last year, etc)

6 When I try to input 2019 1099R I get the same message that says IRS is not ready for 1099R input, and it is expected to be ready by 1/21/2020.

Elsewhere Turbo tax tells me I can download a patch TurboTax 2019 Individual-R15.2 to manually update. also says there are no manual updates for state software. I'm 69 years old and prefer a tax program that does its own updating, but I guess I'll have to try the download unless I get a better answer.

The most direct way is to:

if using Turbo Tax online, go to;

tax tools>tools>topic search

type in 1099R in the search bar

this will take you directly to the section to enter all your 1099R's
