      <description>There is no provision for it to be cut in half. To determine whether some of your SS benefit is taxable, the amount of 1/2 of your SS benefit plus all of your other income is added up. If that amount exceeds $25,000,Single or $32,000 MFJ, then some of your benefit is taxable. But that is the only significance to the "1/2 of your benefit". Your entire benefit is required to be listed on your tax return and Turbotax calculates how much of that entire benefit is taxable.</description>
