There isn't a box for a health care deduction in TurboTax...

There isn't a box for a health care deduction in TurboTax, since that is not a standard 1099-R entry. It should be entered under the Medical insurance part of your Schedule A.

To enter this in TurboTax:

Select the Federal Taxes tab, then Deductions & Credits.

Scroll down the page to Medical, and select Show More.

Beside Medical Expenses, select Start or Edit.

On the next page, TurboTax will show you the threshold you must exceed before any of your expenses count.

Work your way through the screens until you get to How much did you spend on insurance premiums? This is where you enter the amount of your health insurance from the 1099-R. If you have other health insurance amounts on your Social Security statement, you won't need to enter that. However, if you paid for private health insurance (including dental and vision), add it to the 1099-R amount.
