topic SSDI being taxed? in Retirement tax questions

I am completely disabled as a paraplegic from a spinal cord injury and I am on SSDI income. I thought there was supposed to be no tax on social security per Trump, yet when I enter my amount it adds almost $1,000 to what I owe. Can I just leave that amount off of my income since there is supposed to be no tax on social security?

"No tax on Social Security" was a campaign promise that did not come to pass. There is no change in the taxation of Social Security benefits. Instead there is a new deduction for seniors (65 or older). Unfortunately that doesn't do you any good if you are under 65, even though you are disabled.

If SSDI is your only income, it is not taxable. If you have other income, SSDI may be partly taxable based on a formula. That hasn't changed. There is a deduction for over-65 that reduces the amount of tax seniors pay, but it was not exactly "no tax on social security", and it doesn't help under 65.
