TurboTax calculated my Social Security deduction and reported it wrong. Can get someone to check this?

TurboTax miss calculated my Social Security on my tax form and said it was correct. The IRS adjusted the refund amount.

There is no Social Security deduction on a tax return. Do you mean that the IRS said the taxable amount of Social Security was wrong? Did the IRS change anything else on your tax return? The taxable amount of Social Security depends on your other income. If the IRS changed something that increased your other income, that would increase the taxable amount of Social Security. The Social Security calculation was correct for the amount of income that you reported on the tax return that you filed. When the IRS says it was wrong, they mean it was wrong for the new amount of your income after they changed your income.

The other thing that can go wrong...there is a follow-up question, after your main SSA-1099 entries, that asked if you were a resident of certain foreign countries during 2025.....IF...if you skipped that question, or working too fast, didn't read it thoroughly, and answered YES, then $0 show up in line 6b of the 1040.

The IRS may have an issue with that $0 amount if you didn't actually live in one countries listed.
