Cannot correct zip code on1099-R. Keep saying it is not valid.

I put in my the payer zip code and it keep saying: Form 1099-R: Payer's zip is invalid for Electronic Filing. You must enter a valid ZIP code for your state. Enter a correct ZIP code in this format 'nnnnn' or 'nnnnn-nnnn'.

I tried "50392-0001" and "50392" as zip code and it would still give me that error. It would come up during the smart check run and at the end where I tried to filed. I cannot submit electronic filing because of it. Using the mac version of TurboTax.

My suggestion would be to try deleting this 1099-R entirely and re-entering or re-importing it, since that is a valid zip code. To delete a 1099-R using TurboTax Desktop, follow these navigating steps:

Go to Wages & income
Scroll to IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
Select [Add/Edit]
Identify the record you want to delete
Select the trash can on the right
Are you sure you want to delete this 1099-R? - Yes

Then follow the navigation steps to 3. to add it again, and see if the error is resolved.

TurboTax flags an invalid zip code if the code does not match the state. 50392 is a zip code in or near Des Moines, Iowa (apparently entirely for Principal Financial Group). Make sure that you have entered the abbreviation for Iowa (IA) correctly.
