I received a 1099 – R from my bank for interest earned but it does not have box 15 marked. No state is mentioned. But TurboTax won't let me file my return without it.

You sure it’s a 1099R? Or for interest? Could it be a 1099-INT? A 1099R is for IRA withdrawals. Why did you get it?

Interest earned is reported to you on a Form 1099-INT. If there is no amount of state taxes withheld in box 17, then leave boxes 15 16 and 17 blank.

If you still get an error, delete the 1099-INT and re-enter the form manually.
