Your Civil Service Retirement is not taxable on your Oklahoma return. It may be taxable on your federal return depending on the amount of other income that you have. So if you have other income besides your CSR then there may be a taxable portion on your federal return.

Thanks for the reply. Federal return is handling the my Civil Service retirement properly, but it won't transfer as Civil Service Retirement to Oklahoma State return. Instead of putting the amount in the Civil Service category it puts it in the Government category with the $10,000 deduction. It is CSRS pension, so it should be in the Civil Service category with and 100% deduction. I entered it as Civil Service in the Federal part of the program and verified that it is entered as Civil Service in the State review, but it does't put it in Civil Service in the summary.

Thanks for your reply - Yes I've gone through the retirement section in the OK return several times, and I make sure Civil Service Retirement is checked, but it still doesn't put it in that category in the completed summary of retirement income.

If you would like to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information it would help.  If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: (Don't forget to give us the state)

TurboTax Online:

Open your return -Go to the menu panel on the left side of your return and select Tax Tools.

Then select Tools below Tax Tools.

A window will pop up which says Tools Center.

On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.

You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.

Reply to this thread with your Token number and your state. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

TurboTax Desktop:

If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:

Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows

Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'* > Follow the prompts to reach the token number.

Enter your email used for TurboTax > Enter your code > Send

Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.

We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.

Please also tell us any states included in the return. This is necessary for us to view the return.

*If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, 'Send Tax File to Agent')

We will be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return to provide you with a resolution.

As I review your tax return, the only change I made was to enter a zero for the amount of health insurance payment in Box 5. Your Oklahoma (OK) return shows the correct reduction in both the pension types indicated and on the Retirement Exclusion Worksheet:

$10,000 - OK or Federal Retirement

$44,026 - Civil Service per your numbers above

The subtractions on Line 2, Form 511 include the correct amounts. You can go to Forms and click on that line to show how they arrived at the total.

If you have more questions or see something differently, please update here.

Yes. The tax expert is seeing this in the Retirement Exclusion Worksheet. The numbers on the worksheet are what is transmitted to the IRS and State of Oklahoma and not the summary worksheet.

You can verify this yourself if you have the software installed on your computer. Go to the forms mode and look under your Oklahoma state return. Look for the Look for the retirement exclusion worksheet to verify what DianeW777 has mentioned.
