When you are entering a State tax refund and TurboTax asks for your Payments and Withholdings:

Enter the total taxes you paid to the state or locality for the same tax year as the refund (this includes withholdings as well as estimated tax and other payments).

You can get this amount from your state or local tax return for the tax year of the refund. Look for a line near the bottom, often bolded, that includes the phrase total payments.

If you received a state tax refund in 2025 for tax year 2024, enter the amount of 2024 state taxes you paid through withholding from your job (shown on 2024 W-2 and on your 2024 state tax return), plus any estimated state taxes you paid for 2024.

See this help article for more information.

When entering my refund 1099-G in turbotax it asks for: Payments and withholdings . Where do I find that? The help button does not work. I do not see that on the Form 1099G.
