I receive many 1099-R's with some are simple Govt and Corporate retirement plans that are not IRAs and pay me every month. now Turbo Tax seems to want me to treat these payments as an RMD. Why? How do I answer the Turbo Tax question?

For regular Pension payments...the total IS the RMD.

There is an RMD for these, but you just have no control over it.....BUT, the pension provider is the one responsible for following IRS pension rules.

The TTX software starts asking this on any 1099-R once you now reach age 73.

_________________
