topic HSA flagged as excess contribution in Retirement tax questions

Why does TurboTax show an excess contribution penalty to a Health Savings Account when the amount contributed was $9,300, the maximum allowed for families in 2024 with catch up for over 55? I have not entered anything as it was pulled in from my W2. I have indicated Yes to a family high deductible health plan for the entire year

Make sure to continue through the HSA screens and complete the HSA interview until the end.

Did you have any excess contributions from 2023 that was applied towards 2024 contributions?

Double check your birthdate, too.

How much is the excess indicated? That might help us figure out the source of the problem.

If you are using Turbotax installed on your own computer (the desktop version), you can switch to Forms mode and look for issues. I believe that forms or worksheets with problems are flagged with a red exclamation point.
