<title>topic 1099-R incorrect code in Retirement tax questions</title>
    <link>https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/retirement/discussion/1099-r-incorrect-code/01/3577361#M242744</link>
<description>&lt;P&gt;I contributed to a SIMPLE IRA through work.&amp;nbsp; When I received my 5498 for 2023 it showed $300 was contributed to a SEP account instead of the Simple.&amp;nbsp; I called the financial guy and he said he would get it changed.&amp;nbsp; The company was sold and the new company did not do the contributions so it all had to be rolled over into a regular IRA.&amp;nbsp; He said it was done on April 15 of 2024.&amp;nbsp; Now I received 1099-R for the $300 with a code P and another one with $31.80 and a code 8.&amp;nbsp; Both are in 1 &amp;amp; 2a with the X for IRA/SEP/SIMPLE.&amp;nbsp; My 5498 shows the total amount to be a rollover contribution.&amp;nbsp; When TT pulls in the information it tells me I need to amend my 2023 tax return.&amp;nbsp; Why?&amp;nbsp; I did not get the money.&amp;nbsp; It was a straight rollover not an excess contribution.&amp;nbsp; Had it been put in the correct account to begin with I would not be having to amend anything.&amp;nbsp; Does Ameriprise need to correct their code to a rollover or do I have to amend my 2023 tax return?&amp;nbsp; I did try to amend it to see what it would do and it would not let me put it in correctly.&amp;nbsp; Any help would be appreciated.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
