Veteran's benefits are not taxable and are not entered on a tax return. But a military 1099R is entered for a military pension and is subject to federal tax. State laws vary.

And......"client?" Paid preparers cannot use TurboTax. It violates the terms of service.

I'm an accountant I use mytaxprep but I like turbotax for me and my husband still he has a business, so I run tax returns through both software to be sure turbo tax gives me the same number because I trust it but this lady is fighting with me about it being taxed and I can't override it. But thanks for the condescending response....I don't use turbo tax for clients...just my peace of mind.

Same here, I put 4 hours into loading my info into Turbo Tax which will not REDUCE my state in come by my military amount. So I ran my state(LA) by hand and it matches what turbo tax gives if I manually force a 49E Other income exclusion in for my retirement amount. I guess I have no choice but to spend another four hours inputting everything into another tax service software and see what I get. Simply Google Turbo Tax and military pension tax errors and you will see how bad this is, only saw one case that was operator error - all the rest UNRESOLVED!
