I received (2) 10990R from Empower from a job I was let go from this year. One has a value in box 1 and 5 and box 7 has codes BG, but blank 2a and blank 16. TT is stating I need to fill out box 16, what am I supposed to put? I didn't get a check paid out to me or anything. As far as I know everything is still being held by Empower Trust.

Box 16 of your 1099-R is the state distribution, which may be a required entry in TurboTax depending on the state you live in. Box 2a is the taxable portion of the distribution from box 1. Box 2a is empty because your rollover isn't taxable. Distribution Codes B and G that are in box 7 because that you had a designated Roth distribution that was a direct rollover to a qualified plan.

Refer to TurboTax Help article What do all the codes in Box 7 of the 1099-R mean?

When can put the amount from box 1 in box 16. There's not going to be an impact on your tax return because this isn't a taxable distribution.
