      <description>&lt;P&gt;No. &amp;nbsp;A spouse is never a dependent. &amp;nbsp;You still file a Joint return even if she has little or no income. &amp;nbsp;Joint is better than claiming a dependent. &amp;nbsp;You get a higher Standard Deduction and other benefits. &amp;nbsp; You will have to enter her SSA-1099 for Social Security into your tax return. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
