For the last 4 years Efile says my wife is deceased! SHE IS NOT! This has been confirmed with IRS and SSA each year. Both government agencies recommend other tax software - I have used ttax for years and prefer familiar platform - please offer a solution - please do NOT tell me it's their fault!!! Please send a resolution on this one or do I try other tax SW?!?

Thanks, SS

TurboTax will only send the SSN that has been entered in the program for your spouse. Assuming the SSN is correct and the IRS is rejecting the tax return with an IND 941-01 -

IND-941: The Spouse SSN in the return has been locked because Social Security Administration records indicate the number belongs to a deceased individual.

There is no resolution that TurboTax can initiate since, based on the rejection code, this has to be resolved by the SSA who provides this information to the IRS.

Well. that's a fine deal - NOBODY did it!?!? Sounds like my kids that spilled the milk!

Thanks so much for the definitive answer and telling me how it is.

The challenge is not that I must print and mail my return - its finding someone who is willing to figure the problem out and then fix it. IRS - hours on phone, just to locate a number that allows a real person to answer -- then they probably passed an advanced English for toddlers' seminar the get the job! Then same thing with SSA.

Seems to me that an outfit like Intuit, that works closely with IRS an SSA, would have the ability to locate and correct this sort of issue. OR at least have a contact with those agencies that they can communicate effectively with to correct the problem.

DoninGA - Thank you!
