    <description>&lt;P&gt;My wife currently receives SS (age 68). &amp;nbsp;I have not yet started taking SS (age 64). &amp;nbsp;If I start to take SS today/now would my wife be eligible for 50% of what my SS would pay today/now (or) would she receive 50% of "what I would get at age 67 (FRA)?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Your wife would be eligible for 50% of what your SS would pay today/now, but only if your wife did not begin taking her own social security benefit prior to her full retirement age.&amp;nbsp; If she took early retirement benefits she will only be entitled to something less than 50% depending on what age she retired.&amp;nbsp; In any case she would be entitled to the greater of her own benefit or the spousal benefit.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
