    <description>&lt;P&gt;Yes, you can take your first RMD in the same year that you turn 73 (2026, in your case) and then take the annual RMD each year thereafter.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Because you were born after January 1, 1950, you actually have until April 1 of the first calendar year&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;U&gt;after&lt;/U&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;you turn 73 to make your first RMD withdrawal. But, that doesn't mean that you get to skip the RMD for the year that you turn 73 -- if you were to wait until April of the following year, then you would have two RMD distributions for that year.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;One word of caution about taking out your RMD each year in December-----do not wait until the last minute in December each year---you want to make sure the distribution is processed before the end of the year.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Also, you do not have to wait until your 73rd birthday in 2026 to take your 2026 RMD.&amp;nbsp; You can take it anytime in 2026.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
