You would report it as a IRA rollover from &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color:rgb(33,38,42);font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14px;"&gt;from a former government pension. See screenshot.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>Distribution source for a 1099-R</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;My mother was a New York City teacher, and upon her retirement, she took the proceeds from her 403B account and placed them into a regular (non-Roth) IRA account.&amp;nbsp; I inherited the IRA upon her death.&amp;nbsp; TurboTax is asking what the "source" of my distribution was.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Since the funds originated from a 403B account, should I state that it came from New York State and City Education, or because it was transferred to an IRA, is that an incorrect statement?&amp;nbsp; Also, if incorrect, what is the correct answer?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
