Form 8863 Part III line 23 asks if the credit was used FOUR times.

You entered into the TurboTax program that you claimed the AOC ONE time, therefore the selection on Form 8863 is correct, you are still eligible for the American Opportunity Tax Credit three more times.

According to the IRS:

"The American opportunity credit has not been claimed by you or anyone else (see below) for this student for any 4 tax years before 2023. If the American opportunity credit has been claimed for this student for any 3 or fewer tax years before 2023, this requirement is met."
