My 1099R includes 2 distributions lumped together. I had 1 from my 401k that I rolled into my traditional IRA, and another that I rolled into my Roth IRA. Each independently on different dates. The 1099R shows the lump sum of both in Box 1. In box 2 it shows the taxable amount for the Roth, which is less. Turbotax only allows me to input yes or no to where the distribution went, whether IRA or Roth. Either I am taxed on all of it or none of it. I need to split it. How do I do that?

Yes, you can separate the 1099-R into two separate 1099-Rs.

The IRS looks at the total.

The portion rolled over into the ROTH IRA will have the same number in Box 1 as is in Box 2 unless you had non-deductible amounts.

If you had any withholdings it was probably for the ROTH.

The balance will be for the rollover to the Traditional IRA.

Box 7 should be the same.

Please contact us again and provide some additional details.
