How do I "fix my return" to be able to e-file? turbo tax is not letting me through "Box 12 code --We're updating how SEP and SIMPLE plan contributions are reported..."

When I go to e-file I am getting a prompt to "fix my return" and sent to "check this entry: Box 12 code--We're updating how SEP and SIMPLE plan contributions are reported on the tax return based on new guidance from the IRS. Please check back with us soon."

It will only let me file by mail at this point and I don't see any way to fix this.

No...don't mail it...that can take months to get processed by the IRS...come back later and go thru that W-2 section again.

A January IRS change in some of the regulations appear to require that TTX change the software to deal with that box 12 Code S in some way, that isn't obvious Yet.

The First Friday in Feb, Edit that W-2 and step thru the entries for it again to see if the software still complains. If it does.....wait a week and try again later until whatever the hangup is gets worked out. (i.e. we don't know when the changes will be implemented....nor what is really involved)

I am having this same problem. I'm trying to get my return in early and this error is blocking me. The numbers are all correct, but it is not letting me e-file and I don't want to file by mail. I don't understand what 'check back with us soon' means unless they are installing an update.

TurboTax programmers are currently implementing some recent IRS changes for reporting SEP and SIMPLE plan contributions. While there isn't an estimated date when the changes will be done, you can test this by editing your W-2 every 5-7 days to check on the status.

Hey all - I've been logging in every day and trying and wanted to let everyone having this issue know I was finally able to file my returns today!
