How do I enter tax garnishment taken from my social security?

I had money garnished from my social security to pay for prior year federal taxes not paid. Do I need to enter this into turbotax for this year?

No. Just enter SS box 5. You still got the Social Security , it just went to something you owed.

In January you will receive a SSA1099 from Social Security. Just enter the amount as shown on the document. You will be entering box 5. You will not enter anything about your SS being garnished.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
