      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi&amp;nbsp;&lt;a href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/5326136"&gt;@JMB67&lt;/a&gt;!&amp;nbsp; This is a great question.&amp;nbsp; To be clear, and my answer may not be welcome, if you are required to take a minimum distribution from an IRA or another eligible retirement plan (an RMD), the RMD cannot be rolled over to another IRA or converted to a Roth IRA.&amp;nbsp; Sorry to be the bearer of unwelcome news.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you are interested and can afford to do so, you may be able to avoid tax on the RMD by making a qualified charitable distribution as described in this &lt;A href="https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/reminder-to-ira-owners-age-70-and-a-half-or-over-qualified-charitable-distributions-are-great-options-for-making-tax-free-gifts-to-charity" target="_self"&gt;IRS guidance&lt;/A&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;
