There isn't a tool for this. Short sales are manually corrected, unfortunately. The date you acquired is the date of the sale (or the expiration date) and the close date is 24 hours later. You'll have to go through and manually fix these.

Click on --View, then click on forms and look at the errors,

OVERDIDE it as necessary.

some brokers issue a correct consolidated 1099-B and some do not.

You should switch to a broker that does it correctly.
