You enter your form SSA-1099 in TurboTax and all your other income.

TurboTax will automatically figure the taxable portion of your Social security benefits.

Please read this TurboTax blog on the taxation of Social Security benefits.

Do you have other income besides the SS? If your only income was Social Security you do not need to file a tax return unless you had tax withheld, or if you have a 1095A for marketplace health insurance.

However, if you are filing a tax return with OTHER income, then your Social Security must be included.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
