Did you enter educator expenses (deduction for teachers, kindergarten through grade 12 who buy classroom supplies out of their own pocket) for you or your spouse or both? Review this section in TurboTax; it is in the Deductions and Credits section - Employment Expenses - Teacher (Educator) Expenses. There may be something entered in that section that needs to be deleted. Here are the requirements for the Teacher/Educator Expense Deduction. If you or your spouse claimed the deduction, make sure there is a W-2 entered as you have to have worked 900 hours as an educator.

I do not have anything entered there. I am filing as single. Not a teacher at all.

The message is only coming up on the state return.

Yes, you can resolve that error, by deleting the Educator Expenses Worksheet. This is probably a form that carried forward from a prior year.

If you are using TurboTax Online:

Open your return, scroll down to Tax Tools on the bottom of the left side menu.
Select Tools.
Click on Delete a form (third on the list at the bottom of the screen).
Find Educator Expenses Worksheet on the list of forms.
Click Delete to the right.
Confirm your Delete.
Scroll down and check for an Educator Expenses Worksheet under your state return.
Click Delete to the right.
Confirm your Delete.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, please respond back and let us know which state you are filing, so we can look into this further.

I am having the same problem and there is not an "Educator Expenses Worksheet" listed in the list of forms.

Help. I'm in Virginia. This glitch won't let me e-file, and I have tried several ways to get around this issue. I can't even find the Educator Smart Worksheet in my list of forms, so I can't delete it, and can't proceed to e-file my taxes. I called Intuit and they have added my name/e-mail address to a list of other tax filers stuck in this same glitch. I guess I have to wait until they fix it, or someone else comes up with a solution and posts it here.

Glad I'm not crazy. Also in VA. Thought this was just me. So they're aware it's an issue when you called? Think it's worth calling to get name added to the list you mentioned?

Call or chat who? When I try to contact TurboTax it does not give me a chat option and when I have tried to call it is an automated system and I can't get through to anyone who can actually attach me to this.
