      <description>&lt;P&gt;You can claim him if he lived with you all year and you provided more than half of his support and he had less than $4,400 in taxable income. Social security would not count if not taxed.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;The type of Social Security benefits being received have never made a difference---what matters is whether he had any OTHER income.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;If the person you want to claim as a dependent has less than $4400 of income not counting any Social Security and they lived with you for the WHOLE year, you may be able to claim them as a qualified relative and get the $500 credit for other dependents.&lt;/P&gt;
