What form are you trying to enter? Social Security benefits reported on a SSA-1099? Or Railroad Retirement benefits reported on a RRB-1099-R? Something else?

Please verify that you are in the correct section of TurboTax. Please follow these steps to get to the retirement section for Form 1099-R:

Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-R”
Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
Click "Continue" and enter the information from your 1099-R

Or use these steps:

Click "Wages & Income" (under Federal) on the left
Scroll down and click "Show more" next to "Retirement Plans and Social Security"
Scroll down and click "Start" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan (1099-R)"

To enter Social Security income (Form SSA-1099 or RRB-1099):

Click "Wages & Income" (under Federal) on the left
Scroll down and click "Show more" next to "Retirement Plans and Social Security"
Scroll down and click "Start" next to "Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)"

A Form SSA-1099 or RRB-1099 is to be entered in the Social Security section. A Form 1099-R is to be entered in the IRA, 401(k) , Pension Plan Withdrawals section. Do not confuse one with the other.
