We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

In what way is TurboTax asking you to separate your 1099-R form?

Please elaborate:

What do you mean by "combines my TIAA account and my CREF account?"

What do you mean by "Turbo Tax wants me to enter the amounts separately?"

Perhaps what you have are two Forms 1099-R that just happen to be printed on a single sheet. If each account is listed separately, with separate totals, enter each as a separate 1099-R.

similar problem - tiaa-cref now issuing one 1099R for an amount that includes a distribution that qualifies for the NYS employer exclusion and one that does not. Turbo Tax boxes are all or nothing. How do I separate out the part that does not qualify?

As @dmertz says above you will just separate it and enter it as two 1099-Rs so that the total amount matches the amount you received and the one for the NYS exclusion is on its own.

Thanks, Robert - I was concerned that the IRS might not see it as a "match" if I did that. But I will take your advice.

Dianne
