      <description>&lt;P&gt;Not sure what you mean by "partial pension"----but if you are trying to claim a parent as a dependent, the only income that does not "count" is Social Security.&amp;nbsp; &lt;U&gt;&amp;nbsp;Any&lt;/U&gt; other income that is more than $4300 for the year does count, so if the pension was over $4300 you cannot claim them.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;You have to pay more than 50% of their support AND they must have less than $4300 of &lt;U&gt;&lt;EM&gt;taxable&lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/U&gt; income. &amp;nbsp;A pension is almost always taxable income. &amp;nbsp;If the amount is less than $12,550, the person might not owe tax, but the income is still considered taxable for the dependent determination.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
