HSA Contribution Error

Filing taxes and the online turbotax portal keeps flagging my wife has an over contribution of $2400 to her HSA. Her W2 12W line has $2400 has being the contributed amount. She was covered all year by 2 Family HDHP. She has one with her company that covers her and our son and she and my son are covered on my plan as well. I contributed $1275 to my own HSA. Combined we're no where near the family amount and she has never over paid in the past. I've removed all her information from the filing and readded and this keeps getting flagged. This seems like a system glitch.

Until you've completed the HSA section of TurboTax to establish both your eligibility and her eligibility to make HSA contributions, TurboTax will treat the HSA contribution as an excess contribution. Make sure that you have completed that section, indicating that she was covered by a family HDHP the entire year, not covered by any disqualifying coverage and that she cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.

Also check to see if 2021 TurboTax is showing an excess $2,400 contribution carried in from 2020.

It might help to delete both Forms 8889 and revisit the HSA section again.
