Why is turbo tax asking me to enter an amount on line 9a when there is no amount indicated on my 1099R statement.

Also, turbo tax is trying to fill out form 8812 when its just me and my wife. We are elderly and grown children that do not live with us. I am confused.

No amount in box 9a on the Form 1099-R is required to file the form with your tax return. Delete the Form 1099-R and re-enter manually.

For the Schedule 8812 -

Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.

Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.
