Maybe. If you pay for over half her support and she does not have any OTHER income over $4300. The Social Security income does not count but if she has other income like a pension, investment income, rental income, etc. that "counts". If she does not, then you can claim her as a qualified relative and you get the $500 credit for other dependents.

Yes, you may be able to claim your mother as a dependent if she only collected Social Security and you provided more than half of her support during the tax year.

Add your mother in the dependent section and go through the screens. TurboTax will let you know if you can claim her as a dependent or not.
