Please see a screenshot of a typical OPM 1099-R. If there is no physical Box 7, try to see if there is a line entry describing what should be in Box 7. If you have a prior year form and nothing has changed in regard to how you receive your money, you may consider using the same code.

If your Form 1099-R is from OPM then you may be seeing on the form for box 7 a message something like non-disability or other message. The box 7 is on the form and there will be a code in box 7.

Did you receive a CSA-1099-R or a CSF-1099-R?

If the form you received indicates it is a Form 1099-R and it does not include a box 7, then the form is incorrect and you have to contact the issuer of the form for a corrected Form 1099-R. The form MUST have a box 7 with a code entered in box 7 or the the form is not valid.
