Please see the steps below. Both pensions and IRAs can be entered here.

The 1099 R will be entered in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section.
• Select Federal Taxes
• Select Wages and Income
• Select Show More at Retirement Plans and Social Security
• Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)

Are you asking because it is on line 5b but not on 5a? If the taxable amount on 5b is the same as the gross distribution on 1099R box 1 then it doesn't show the amount on 5a.
