TurboTax State Comparison Package

I am contemplating moving out of a state due to what I believe is excessive state taxes. Does Intuit / TurboTax have any plans for creating a state tax comparison product using the current years state filing but without the filing option? This would be a good tool for seniors contemplating moving to another state and providing realistic data in order to reduce the unknown tax implications associated with relocating. I understand that there would be a need to have some additional input needed related to property taxes with relocating, etc.

In TurboTax Online, you can start as many returns as you like for free to see the impact of changing state returns. This would require you to re-input your Federal information into a new pseudo TurboTax account under a different user name but you could change your Personal Info to a fake address for the state you would like to compare. You could monitor your amount of state tax due at the top of the page or go to right hand column and click:

Tax Tools
Tools
View Tax Summary
Preview your State return

There you could see the amount of state tax for the state you requested in the My Info section. You can then compare that state tax number to your actual state tax number from your true TurboTax account.

I appreciate the assistance, I usually pick up a copy of the premiere tax software in a local store and never look to do my taxes online due to security concerns.

The online screen comes up for the the tax year 2020, I'll give it a try once I receive all of my 2020 tax input data. I have previous years tax information but it would require access to inputting data for a previous year.
