Can I stop my parent from claiming me on their returns? I’ve lived in my own home since 2018 and I take care of myself.

She still claims me and I’ve asked her not to. I missed out on so many assistance programs this year due to it.

If you no longer qualify to be claimed as a dependent, but they e-file first and block you, simply print your return and mail it to the IRS. The IRS will investigate the duplicate claim and, if they are incorrect, they will be assessed repayment of back taxes with penalties and interest for whatever they claimed that they were not entitled to.
