topic Backdoor Roth conversions for 2021 and 2022 on 2022 1099-R in Investors & landlords

I received a 1099-R that includes both my Roth conversions for this year (1 for 2021 and 1 for 2022). I have been able to make the 2022 contribution/conversion non-taxable but the 2021 conversion still shows as taxable. I have even tried to manipulate the 1040 directly but the system won't let me. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Bill

Go back through the IRA Contribution section of your return to be sure that you indicated that you previously made and tracked non-deductible contributions to your IRA. This is where you will indicate the amount that was contributed to the Traditional IRA for 2021. This amount will be part of the basis of the Traditional IRA and will not be taxable when converted to the Roth IRA.
