Personal rent paid is not claimed on a Federal return. Are you asking about some State provision, as generally rent has nothing to do with EIC?

I'm in the same situation. Is it a big deal that for rent paid I put down my monthly rent amount instead of the yearly amount. Should I not even worry about changing it

Rent Paid is not entered in your Federal Return. Are you trying to claim a State Renter's Credit?
