I'm pretty sure this is incorrect... would you be able to really take 40% bonus deduction on a foundation repair and porch rebuild for a rental property?

Yes, assets acquired after September 27, 2017 and before January 19, 2025 have bonus depreciation of 40% available. So you should be able to take a larger bonus depreciation deduction on those this year if you choose to.

At first glance, foundation and porch rebuilt seems to be an improvement to the property itself, which usually means depreciation over 27.5 or 39 years.

If that is the case, you are correct that screen is wrong. Did you enter it as a something else, other than an improvement directly to the real estate? If so, that is likely the problem.
