I paid for an ACA health insurance plan during the year. In doing my Federal return, those payments do not appear to apply as I did not itemize (the Standard Deduction is more beneficial). My state offers deductions for qualified personal health insurance premiums. Should I report that on my state form? Or does taking the federal standard deduction negate that? Am I required to itemize on the federal to have it apply on my state? Thank you very much to anyone who can offer some advice.

By the end of January 2024, or so, you should receive form 1095-A for your ACA coverage. You will use that form to complete Federal Form 8962 which must be included with your Federal 1040. Based on your entries Turbotax will optimize between the standard deduction and itemized deductions for Federal/State. Omission of that form will result in your return being rejected. We need to know your state to answer those questions.

Thanks Mike. Apologize for not providing enough info, I know there is a lot to consider.

In this scenario, the 1095-A is completed and the standard deduction is deemed best. My state is Missouri. Since the standard deduction was used on the federal form, do you think I am eligible to still use the insurance premium information on the state form for a reduction?

No. You are not allowed to itemize on MO if you take the standard deduction on federal. See MO instructions page 8, under itemized deductions here.
