    <description>&lt;P&gt;My daughter turned 18 Feb 2017, she worked part time and earned a little over 5,000 and is a full time student, I have been on disability through VA since Nov 2016. &amp;nbsp;I'm not sure if I have to file, but if I do should I claim her because she is a dependent or should she file her own?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;If your only income in 2017 was VA disability income, you need not file a return as your income is not taxable.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If your daughters income in 2017 was W-2 income, she is not required to file a return, but may elect to do so to obtain a refund if her tax withholding(s).&lt;B&gt;&lt;/B&gt;&lt;I&gt;&lt;/I&gt;&lt;U&gt;&lt;/U&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
