When entering your 1098-T form you get an error message it's often because you copied and pasted some of the information. It's possible extra spaces or hidden formatting may be causing the problem. Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the entries.

In order to fix this, you will need to delete the Form completely and enter it again, making sure the information is correct the first time.

To delete the Form, when the program asks if you have it, you will have to answer Yes.

Then, click Delete when you see the Form that you have already entered. Press Add Another button, and re- enter your 1098-T Form.

I cannot perform any of the suggestions. This is because once I am asked, “ do you have any educational expenses? And I click yes I immediately get an error message - “sorry we don’t support this. we currently don’t support educational expenses for X people.”

there’s clearly a glitch in the software, and my resolution is to use a different company to prepare my taxes this year.

How many students do you have 1098-T forms for? You may have created extra dependents and/or students on the return. Use the Delete a Form instructions below to look through your form list and make sure there are not extra dependent and/or student worksheets in your return. if you see extras, delete them and delete any extra 1098-T forms that were erroneously started.
