$500 was credited to my college tuition balance during 2021 as part of the American Rescue Plan. Does this amount qualify as a grant that should be declared even though it was not listed on my 1098-T?

Yes, you must subtract out the American Rescue Plan Grant from the Educational expenses because it was nontaxable income.

I agree with MaryK1101, you must reduce the amount of tuition you claim, for a tuition credit, by the amount paid for by the tax free American Rescue Plan Grant
