      <description>&lt;P&gt;If the child was your dependent at the time that you took out the loan you can deduct the interest that you paid.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can deduct only the interest, not the full amount that you paid. You should have gotten a Form 1098-E showing the amount of interest that you paid.&lt;/P&gt;
