For 1098T for my dependent son, it assumes that I am the student and won't let me add him under add student even after I delete myself. What do I do?

Go back into your "Personal info" section of TurboTax by selecting the black panel on the left.

Review your input for your son to ensure the questions are being answered correctly to ensure he is still being claimed as a dependent.

(Note, even if he is away at college, you will select that he lived with you for the entire year for tax purposes.)

As you continue through the screens, you should get a message indicating if he qualifies as a dependent or not.

If you are getting a message saying he does not qualify, you will not be able to claim the education credit.

Dependent qualifications

Once you are able to claim him as a dependent, you should be able to add him to your Education credit input section.

Thank you for trying to help me. My son was listed as my dependent and a student from the beginning. My issue was resolved by changing my status from single to head of household. I got this from using the expert help option.
