Yes. Students taking online courses with an accredited collge or university are considered full time student if he/she is enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester or an equivalent full time studentschedule.

FULL TIME FOR THE TUITION DEDUCTION, BUT HOW CAN YOU GET THE RETIREMENT SAVINGS CONTRIBUTION TOO: FROM FORM 8880 INSTRUCTIONS:

you: • Were enrolled as a full-time student at a school; or • Took a full-time, on-farm training course given by a school or a state, county, or local government agency. A school includes technical, trade, and mechanical schools.

It doesn’t include on-the-job training courses, correspondence schools, or schools offering courses only through the Internet.

THIS LOOKS LIKE FOR THAT YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT.

If your online school is an eligible educational institution and you take more than five months of required courses, you are considered as a full-time student. If you meet those requirements, you would not qualify for the credit. To check the school, click here: eligible schools
