What are you trying to do? What are you trying to enter? If you are being home-schooled and using an online high school program you are a full-time student. Why are you asking?

Well I'm 22 and work so I dont really consider myself full time since i only get a couple hours in when i can between work and my kid but I'm trying to do my taxes and it asked if I was a full time student and I wasnt sure how i should answer

Oh--I see. Are you being claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return? Your status as a part-time high school student is not going to affect your tax return.

Per the IRS rules in IRS Publication 970, each school has their own definition of a full time student. So you'd have to ask the school. Additionally, even though it's high school, if it's not "accredited" by the U.S. Dept of Education, then you have nothing to claim.

Generally, to be considered a full time student you have to be taking on "more than half" of whatever the school decides is a "full time workload".

Also note that as of 2018, out of pocket education expenses are not longer deductible. At best, you might get a few credits, such as the AOTC - but I don't think you can for high school. But if you plan on attending college it might not be a good idea to essentially "waste" those credits for high school.

Okay I just always worry I'm doing these things wrong. I don't consider myself full time because I only do a small amount at a time. But I didn't want to give false information by saying I wasn't a full time student. Thank you for helping!!!! 😁
