Hi!

I'm currently on my STEM OPT (F-1 visa) and my wife is also on F-1 visa (first year of school). I'm already working and she just got a job on campus. I'm confused about what is most beneficial for me, married and filing jointly or married and filing separately. Also, is there a way I can claim my wife as a dependent?

It almost always more beneficial from a tax standpoint to file as Married Filing Jointly when you are legally married.

A spouse can never be claimed as a dependent.
